You’ll survive by counting down the days till FlipSide LIVE begins on September 2, 2009. We’re ramping up for an insane ‘09-’10 school year at FlipSide that’s so BIG we needed the whole Summer to get ready for it. We’ll have a rockin’ band, crazy skit team, lots of food, all your friends, and just enough awesomeness to keep you craving more.

So don’t waste anymore time reading this. Get out there and tell everyone you know and even those you don’t to join us at 7pm on September 2 at Rock Church for a night they won’t forget!

I can’t believe SUMMER is already here??!! Where did this year go??

I am so incredibly pumped about this FRIDAY because of the Summer Serve Concert!
This deal is gonna be AWESOME and so much fun.

Not only are we hosting ElectionSure, Chasing Eden, Neptune 7, In Shepherds Arms, AND DJ Defy- but I’m bringing out the TRUTH BOOTH to rock you guys out with some awesome photo booth action!

The TRUTHBOOTH is set up like a photo booth but with lots more space for way more people. We bring all the props and snapshot all of the fun!

Make sure and check out each of the bands’ myspace pages to hear their music, and check out the pics below to see a little glimpse of how awesome the truthbooth is going to be at the concert.

DON’T MISS THIS EVENT GUYS! It’s going to be a night of raw energy and music that’ll make your ears bleed. Bring every friend you know, and even those you don’t, because this will be a night you won’t forget.

And remember, most importantly, the admission is only $5 and ALL of the proceeds are going to a great cause- relief supplies for our Baton Rouge trip!

As you all know, this Wednesday, June 3rd, is our final FlipSide service until August!

Come with your hearts wide open and ready to be spilled into, we’ll be having an intimate acoustic worship set and you do not want to miss out on what’s in store for you.

Although it is extremely saddening that it will be our last service before summer, it’s also crazy exciting to know that Matthew, myself + the band, and all of our other AWESOME FS staffers are busying themselves this summer with making FlipsideLIVE! and Flipside Unplugged SO amazing for us in August.

You DON’T want to miss out on what’s in store for you when Flipside returns BIGGER, BETTER, LOUDER, and more HEART GRABBING and LIFE CHANGING than EVER.

And don’t forget, even though Flipside is seeing its end for this school year, we have a TON of exciting things just around the corner such as:

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the Summer Cookout yesterday afternoon!

Not only did we raise a pretty good amount of money, we had some seriously fun times; from overrated picnic table cloths that Matthew unfortunately picked out (haha Alex and Jessica), to Kyle wearing ketchup and tomatoes all over his clothing…thanks to Gabriel.

It was face melting hot outside and we could’ve all baked cookies on our thighs, but none the less, you guys were super amazing, kept smiles on your faces, and we all BROUGHT IT at our final fundraiser!

Seriously, there’s no teens as great as Flipside’s.
And that’s the real deal.

June 28th (Sun)- Beach Day and Beach Games

         > Following church we’ll head out to the beach for some fun in the sun with water games, frisbees, footballs, baggo, bocci ball, and anything else we can think of! We hope to have ice cold sodas and freezie pops for everyone as well. So grab your shades, a towel, and a couple quarters and join us!

July 10th (Fri)- Photo Scavenger Hunt!

        > THIS Scavenger Hunt is wicked awesome! We’ll be meeting up at the church, splitting up into teams, and heading off in seperate cars to photograph hilarious items around town for points! Most points wins! Bring your Point and Shoot, a couple bucks, and a crazy creative mind!

July 25th (Sat)- Greenfield Lake, Picnic & Paddleboats

       > Head out to the lake around 12pm on this Saturday and bring a blanket and yummy snacks. We will be enjoying time together in the park having a picnic and then paddle boating around Greenfield. So much fun, and relaxing too!

August 8th (Sat)- Downtown Day, Boats & Ice Cream

       > On this day you’ll be able to find us at 4 pm on the corner of Market and Front, the coolest spot in the down town area! Join us while we grab some amazing treats from Kilwin’s, check out the unique boutiques, and take a sweet boat ride down the Cape Fear River!

August 22nd (Sat)- End of Summer Tour, Cook Out & Water Games

        > This is the final stop of Summer Tour. If you can’t make it to any other events, you won’t want to miss this! Join everybody at the church at 4pm for some grilled out delicacies and way too much water to handle! Bring water appropriate clothes, and get ready to use water guns, throw yourself down the Slip ‘n’ Slide, and perform in other Water Olympic activities! It’s gonna be mind blowingly, summer ending awesome!

Ah the age-old question, What is Love? Can anyone really explain it? Some of us think we’ve felt it, others know they’ve felt it, and still others wouldn’t know it if it slapped them in the face. It’s nearly impossible to find a song or a movie that doesn’t talk about it, but what is it really? Can you fall in it? Does it hurt? Can you climb out? Join us during May as we discuss what Love is, what it is not and how to tell if we’ve been bitten by it. 

—JUNE 12— Save the date!! School’s finally over; let the Summer begin!! We’re kicking off an incredible Summer with a night of raw energy and music that’ll make your ears bleed. “Would you do that if Jesus was here?”

It’s one of those questions people ask to make you think about what you’re doing. Whenever I hear it I always picture this tall lanky guy in sandals and a draping robe standing in the corner of the room with a blank stare waiting to see me make a wrong move. 

If Jesus were on earth today what would He look like? What would He talk like? What would He do with His time? Would He blog? Would He have a website? Who knows? During April in FlipSide we’re gonna get to the bottom of what it would be like if Jesus walked the earth today. See ya there!

Why Baton Rouge?

The Baton Rouge Dream Center is an outreach of Healing Place Church. They are Located in one of the most crime ridden and poor areas of town. Through Church services, After school programs, Life skills and discipleship classes, street outreach, Grocery give-aways, free clothing boutique, etc, they hope to be a light in the darkness and reach the ones forgotten and abandoned by society for Jesus Christ.

Why FlipSide?

FlipSide had an incredible opportunity to work alongside those serving faithfully at The Baton Rouge Dreamcenter last Summer. Those who attended last year haven’t stopped asking to go back. I believe we have much to learn about true service and selflessness and the biblical mandate to consider others better than ourselves. Last year we saw a humbling display of volunteerism and learned the power of putting the needs of others above our own.  We look forward to going back this year, getting our hands dirty, and continuing to build a relationship by serving with this amazing ministry of Healing Place Church.

What’s the damage?

$400  -  All Inclusive (Food, Lodging, Transportation, Serving Cost). A $50 non-refundable deposit is required no later than March 15, other nonrefundable payments are as follows:

How will I raise that?!

Even though $400 is an amazing price for a 10-day trip, we understand that it’s still $400. We’re planning four significant fundraisers over the next three months that will greatly reduce the cost of this trip if your teen is diligent to participate. We understand the current state of our economy makes this decision even more difficult, however we also understand that the greatest sacrifices produce the greatest rewards. We encourage you to ask God if this opportunity is for your teen and if so we want to partner with you to make it happen.

Encouraging? Not so much. True? Incredibly! Every human being on earth has this one thing in common, we are all on a journey towards death. Some on that journey are going faster than others, some are scared silly about getting there, and some are actually totally fine with it.

There’s no question about whether or not you’ll die, the question is what you do on the journey there.

Join us in FlipSide during March as we tackle the ever-important subject of death and what matters in this life. 

Hey SpeakLouder is heading back to Mayfaire on February 28 to give away FREE hot cocoa for no other reason than to shock people with generosity. All you hafta do is show up at Rock Church at 5:30pm with $5 and a smile on your face and we’ll take the van to Mayfaire. Make sure to eat before you come cuz nobody likes to serve hot cocoa on an empty stomach. Make sure your parents are back at the church to pick you up at 9:15pm. Let’s shock people with actions instead of words!!

ACTIVIST: Someone who acts intentionally to bring about change. Usually in direct oposition to one side of an argument.

Ever notice that whenever a big event of change happens in society there are always nearby picketers ready to protest? We fight against abortion. We fight for the sanctity of marriage. We fight for the whales. Some fight for the animals while I fight for the right to eat meat Regardless of what we fight for, we all have something we believe in so passionately that we jump at the opportunity to defend our position.

The bible reminds us that our faith is a fight and we cannot give up! Every day we wake up we are in a battle against our flesh to do what’s right. Everytime you step into your school you walk into a fight. 

During February we’ll be talking about what it means to fight for what we believe in, and be activists of love in a hurting world. So don’t miss FlipSide this month or I might have to fight you.

At FlipSide in December we’re challenging the teens to sacrifice atleast one of their gifts for a needy family. I think I speak for most of us when I say the one thing that comes to our minds around Thanksgiving time is obviously a big ol’ pizza pie and the movie Kung Fu Panda. Okay, maybe not, but hey we’ve never claimed to be a normal group of teens
